The Attorney General opens a workshop on counter-terrorism in the Assembly of Arab Commons Deputies

downloadIn his opening address to the workshop, the Attorney-General confirmed that it was one of the Association's activities aimed at developing the technical capabilities and skills of members of the Public Prosecutor's Offices in the areas of collection and presentation of evidence, prosecutions and parallel financial investigations and international judicial cooperation to combat terrorist crimes and financing, exchange experiences and identify best practices applied in this regard by Member Prosecutors' Offices and stressing the need for effective cooperation in addressing the many challenges of that type of crime, Through enhancing the effectiveness of international instruments and strengthening and supporting mechanisms for international judicial cooperation, Prompt response to extradition requests for terrorist cases and requests for mutual legal assistance, in particular with regard to the freezing and confiscation of terrorist funds and entities by applying the texts of international, regional and bilateral conventions, or applying the principle of reciprocity as a legal basis for accepting such requests.
He stressed the need to exchange best practices between prosecution agencies and Member States' prosecutors, make use of information technology tools, monitor and track sources of terrorist financing and drying up, promote confrontation with organized crime groups and prevent their proceeds from being used to finance terrorist operations, thereby contributing to undermining the activities of terrorist groups through the International Information Network.
He stressed that the Egyptian Public Prosecutor's Office, as President of the Association, provided all forms of support to the Association, thus contributing to the achievement of its objectives and moving forward towards the continuation of training events, raising the capacities and skills of the members of the Public Prosecutor's Offices of the Association, and looking forward to hosting any such events.
